The following story is from Jackson County Girls Fastpitch Softball page on Facebook:
"Their first matchup was against Cumberland who only had 4 losses in the conference this season. JCMS won that game 6-5 and hit almost .500 in that game. Clay County (who finished the season with a 13-3 record) was the only other team in the winners bracket at that time so of course we got them next. That was also a close game but with the great pitching duo of Samantha Strong and Annika Bingham they were able to put them away 5-3. That left Jackson Co. as the only team in the winners bracket and they awaited the winner from the losers bracket which turned out to be yet again Cumberland. Cumberland took 3rd inning lead 3-0 but in the next inning the bats came alive once again for JCMS ending the game with a 6-4 win to win the 12 team conference tournament! The teams involved in the tournament are all 13th region teams in high school besides a few teams and is hopefully a good sign of things to come for the high school team in the next few years to come! The girls got a greeting at the county line from Pond Creek fire dept. as they escorted the girls to the middle school to place their two trophies (one for tournament champs and one for regular season champs) in their proper place in the trophy cabinet. Big thanks to Jamie and Angel for their great work with these girls over the past three seasons. The girls finish the season with a 15 game winning streak in conference play!"
