Middle school students, involved in the Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP), recently visited the studios of WKYT, in Lexington.
At WKYT, students were able to view a live newscast, with anchors Barbara Bailey and Bill Bryant, who they were able to meet after the broadcast. Meteorologist Todd Borak demonstrated the computer models used to predict the weather and the "green screen" that meteorologists use on television for their weather broadcast. While in the studio, students viewed equipment, such as cameras, teleprompters, and lighting. The tour also included a visit to the control room, news room, and director's booth.
This opportunity allowed students hands-on experience in the career fields of journalism and broadcast.
